What is Project Cheetah?

After a long gap of 12 years, the governments of India and Namibia have signed an agreement this year

Namibia has agreed to send 50 cheetahs to India over the next five years

8 Cheetahs to be brought from Namibia to Jaipur in special Boeing 747-400 aircraft

A team from Namibia's Cheetah Conservation Foundation (CCF) will also be with the animals

Cheetahs to be flown in a helicopter to Kuno National Park in Madhya Pradesh

Prime Minister Narendra Modi will also release him on the same day

To keep poachers away from the park, 12 km fencing has been put in place

Project Cheetah faced last minute glitch after India refused to keep 3 Cheetahs

The Ministry of Tourism of Namibia said that all 8 animals were then caught when they were very young

The felines will be kept isolated for a month in a 50×30 meter circle in the sanctuary and will be under constant observation

They will be released in the safe zone later
